Policies Governing an aps.ateneo.edu E-Mail Account
These policies apply to the new e-mail server, mail.aps.ateneo.edu, that will host user accounts under the aps.ateneo.edu domain. These policies are intended to give all users equal access to the resources being provided by this new email server, ensure the security of users' accounts, and ease overall system administration.
All bona fide employees of the Ateneo Professional Schools can have an
account under the aps.ateneo.edu domain.
Accounts can be accessed from anywhere through a web interface located at http://mail.aps.ateneo.edu/. Within APS-Rockwell, Outlook 2000, Outlook Express 5, Eudora 5.1.1, and Netscape 7.0 can also be used with an encrypted version of the POP protocol.
Instructions on configuring these mail clients can be found here.
For security reasons, telnet (shell) access will not be allowed on the new server.
Users have the responsibility, and a personal stake, in securing their accounts. Some basic guidelines on how to select a good password can be found here.
